Dear fellow Xbox fan,
I wrote this book to help someone suffering with the dreaded 3 red lights. This problem has plagued Xbox 360 is everywhere and there are a lot of debate about how to resolve this problem.
This article shows you how this problem step by step so you can play your favorite games in the next hour or two to resolve. Some of the methods include removal of your Xbox and if the instructions in this article follow should be fine, but if you are unsure, ask anything, before continuing, as I will not be held liable for any damage you do, to be your system.
Before you begin!
This method does involve opening the console to work, if you will do so, please remember this, I take no responsibility for damage to your console!
If you follow these steps you will go well and it is a good idea to keep all screws and components for the individual parts together, you can add it back together quickly. To keep the screws on the one hand, all together and you should be good!
Step 1: Get retrofitted Up!
There are some tools you need before you start and the good news is they can all be found around your house or on the local hardware store. Below I’ve listed the tools needed and where to find them:
1 Rubber Eraser
A very small tube or a very small screwdriver
A double face tape (sticky on both sides)
A screwdriver T8 (XP internal Xbox 360 screws)
A screwdriver T10 (XP Xbox 360’s internal chassis from case)
As mentioned above, you can find the above items in any hardware store. If you have any problems finding the right screwdriver then just get a Torx screwdriver set, but make sure it has a T8 and T10 in the crowd!
You can at Amazon.com and Ebay, and the search for a few dollars or get them from your hardware store! After following the above you are ready to begin!
Step 2: Disassembly of the 360
*** NOTE: This is a real fix but involve taking the Xbox apart to work when you’re not ready, they can be found in step 6 for “The towel trick” that makes no difference under the 360 do next! Sometimes it is not the towel trick last forever and eventually you will have to do this update, although I’ve heard people say that the towel trick still works for a year! ***
Right, let’s start:
1st First you set the Xbox to the head on your lap, instead of Insert your index finger and middle finger into the memory slot holes, thumb on the underside of the Xbox (for leverage), and pull the front panel with a steady force. It should just snap right off.
2nd Next, break the Microsoft seal (your warranty at this point is invalid if you have one!)
3rd Now turn the Xbox on its side and take a look at the holes on the top and bottom of each page. If you look closely, you can see that some of the holes are filled why should that be? Well, it is because the filled holes instead of keeping the gray plastic pieces on the top and bottom of the Xbox snuggly.
4th To remove the upper and lower gray pieces, you need a small pointed object
5th Find a gray plastic tab by peering into the holes, then use the probe gently push down and lever out of the gray top / bottom cap
Both pieces have three tabs / clips per side, wholesale with six apiece. To remove the top gray piece, you must remove the rubber pad. This is the only rubber pad you have to be removed.
6th With the gray pieces removed, take a close look at the back of the Xbox. On the right and left side are the small indentations require that a closer look. You must return a small screwdriver or narrow probe.
7.Using the probe, start on the left side (near power plug socket) and push the catch a little bit into the Xbox until it clicks, then keep them apart with a screwdriver, the two sides
Once the left side is finished, start on the right and do the same for the rest of the catch. This is probably the most difficult part of the whole process, so take your time.
8.Once separated them all, which is the bottom of the Xbox stand out. At this point, push them around the front and loosen the four hooks to hold the case together
9th At this point you have to grab your Torx driver set. I have a T10 and T8 for this part of the process of dismantling.
10th Loosen the six black screws T10, T10 then use the screw screws. Finally for all silver, screw the black screws with your T8 driver
11th Turn the Xbox back over.
12th Remove the DVD button arm assembly to keep it out of his way. You just have to pry off just black plastic guide.
13.Next, remove the top cover, just the DVD button latch!
14th Disconnect the SATA connector and power connector from the DVD drive and lift it from the case.
15th To remove the white plastic air guide, look for the notch on the upper outer side, insert the probe / small screwdriver, and get out the air flow. It should lift straight out very smoothly.
Then you draw the energy for the fan. Nike air max shoesNow, use your probe / screw driver, pry to protect the fan catches of the metal, this will allow you to remove the fan unit from the Xbox case.
Next look at the front of the Xbox on the RF module and remove the white plastic power button. It is held in place by a clip on the top and bottom.
16th Now remove the three screws on the front board (RF module).
Seventeenth Once the screws are removed, you can board the front of the Xbox film with a slight train. Note that it is connected to the lower left side. You should now be able to pull the whole board right out of the housing with relative ease. Be careful not to touch an exposed circuit boards.
18th The next step is to carefully lift the motherboard from the Xbox case.
